Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Dog Now! Approximately 6-year-old Peer is a friendly, people-oriented male dog standing about 50 cm tall at the shoulder and weighing around 18 kg. He loves being close to his humans, relishes every bit of attention, and simply enjoys being part of the family. We sincerely hope that Peer will soon become part of a loving family and find a forever home. In addition to his cuddly nature, Peer also happily shows his playful and lively side. At the same time, he can also relax and unwind beautifully. In everyday life, he presents himself as curious and open-minded, confidently handling many situations already. Nevertheless, he would like reliable people who can provide him with guidance, set clear rules, and occasionally show him which behaviors are most appropriate at any given moment. Peer loves children and would thrive in a family with understanding, dog-experienced kids. He generally gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. However, he’d prefer not to share his own home with another dog and would be delighted to have a place all to himself. Walks are among Peer’s favorite activities. He especially loves taking his time to sniff around and explore his surroundings calmly. On the leash, he already walks nicely but still needs a bit more practice. The same applies to car rides, which currently make him a little nervous. Yet, he’s already making great progress in this area as well. At his foster home, he has already been left alone without any issues for up to four hours. When it comes to food, Peer occasionally displays some resource guarding behavior. With a little attention and a sensitive approach, however, this can be easily managed. For Peer, we’re looking for a loving home with people who understand dogs, who will welcome him as a full-fledged family member and help him feel safe and comfortable in his new role. Anyone looking for a loyal, cuddly, and yet uncomplicated companion will find in Peer a wonderful friend for life. After a positive pre-adoption check and payment of a protection fee, Peer can move into his new home neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and equipped with an EU pet passport. Many thanks to Sabine A. for taking on his sponsorship. A big thank you also goes to Vera S., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Peer. As of June 27, 2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Peer

What life with Peer looks like

Peer is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peer, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peer?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peer on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peer if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peer already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peer isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peer and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
