Breed: EKHGender: female, spayedColor: tricolor with grayish undertonesBorn: 2023Found in: NeuhofCategories: Cat, Cats, AnimalsDescriptionPenny came to us in June along with her semi-adult kittens. Since she was somewhat shy, she was then separated from the already independent—but also shy—children and now lives in the large room with the other adult cats. She’s still a bit reserved, but at least gives the impression of being open-minded; it’s quite likely that she’ll learn how wonderful it can be to interact with people. She gets along well with the other cats. When the shy Minni first entered the room after being spayed and nervously fled into a corner, Penny went over to her and sat down in front of her—as if forming a little protective barrier! So sweet! Accordingly, Penny would be a great fit for a family with a confident first cat, where she could learn a lot and become a wonderful family member. However, Penny would certainly also love to go for walks in the great outdoors again.Info: The animal descriptions are based on observations made at the animal shelter or on information provided by third parties and do not constitute guaranteed characteristics!Penny23.06.2026. About Penny

What life with Penny looks like

Penny is a large puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Fulda in Fulda.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Penny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Penny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Fulda handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Penny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Penny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Fulda will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Penny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Penny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Fulda early rather than rehoming privately; they know Penny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
