adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Penny has found her luck! Her story: When Penny was found on the streets, she was in no good condition – hungry, alone, and forced to even eat from a dead animal out of desperation. But despite this sad sight, Penny showed from the very first moment what a wonderful character lies within her. Friendly, open, and trusting, she allowed herself to be saved and even bathed. On the very first evening, she met the family of her Romanian foster home – including the father, two children, and both dogs. She adapted to all of this immediately without any problems. Penny is a true beauty! Her shining, silvery fur is adorned with a cute white spot, which gives her a particularly charming look. Over her nose, she sports a gentle, white stripe – as if someone had gently painted it with a brush. Her small white paws set sweet accents and make her simply unrecognizable. With her expressive eyes, her athletic build, and her beautiful presence, Penny is not only pretty but also a real heart dog. A great female dog, friendly, balanced, and absolutely family-friendly! Penny is social with other dogs – especially when she meets playmates with a similar energy level. Softer dogs might be a bit too laid-back for her, as Penny loves to run, play, and be active. On the leash, she behaves excellently, she rides calmly in the car, and in general, she shows herself as an absolutely easy-going, well-handled female dog. A cat test can be conducted upon request. Even though Penny has already experienced a lot and is around 4.5 to 5 years old, having gone through puberty, we must not forget her past. One must always keep in mind that a new environment and new people can be stressful for a dog, and every dog handles this new situation differently. Here, she needs people who approach her with love and patience, giving her time to settle in. After a certain period of adjustment, it might also be worthwhile to visit positive dog training classes with her. A dog training class is also a great way to strengthen the bond between two and four-legged beings. Unfortunately, Penny belongs to the so-called list dogs. Therefore, her entry into Germany is not allowed on a federal level.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Penny

What life with Penny looks like

Penny is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Penny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Penny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Penny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Penny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Penny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Penny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Penny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
