Adopt Peppa Ponyo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

female & male Dwarf rabbits Born 2024 Surrendered neutered yes (Ponyo) / no (Peppa) In the animal shelter since 07.04.2026 ________________________ Peppa and Ponyo came into our care unfortunately due to personal circumstances. The two rabbits get along well and are curious, very attentive, and quite trusting animals that look forward to responsible care in a loving home. Peppa is a buck rabbit. The breed must be counted as a suffering breed, and it should be noted that they are breed-specifically prone to more frequent ear and dental problems and have limited vision. For the two, a nice, spacious enclosure with enrichment and retreat options, with a floor space of at least 6qm as recommended by the Veterinary Association, should be continuously available. The larger, and the more additional run space available, the better of course. Additionally, proper nutrition (i.e., not pellets or dry food but fresh greens, good hay, herbs, etc.) and reliable care should be ensured. We would like to point out that rabbits, like most small household pets, are well suited as "observation animals" but should not serve as "first own pets" for children. ________________________ (As of 16.05.2026) Peppa: Buck, fawn; Ponyo: Loh rabbit, brown (Click on the images to see them in full size!) The description gives the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or new assessments. It can always happen that a pet behaves or develops differently in a new home due to changed circumstances.

About Peppa Ponyo

What life with Peppa Ponyo looks like

Peppa Ponyo is a large young adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peppa Ponyo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peppa Ponyo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peppa Ponyo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peppa Ponyo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peppa Ponyo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peppa Ponyo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peppa Ponyo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
