adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Peppermint has found her people! Her story: This beautiful white female cat with sparkling blue eyes goes by the name Peppermint. She has the looks and behavior of a little diva, but is also very cuddly, curious, and active. However, Peppermint hasn't had an easy life: she sought refuge in a shed when she was heavily pregnant. She gave birth to 4 kittens there and was fortunately found in time. She was in a bad state, very skinny and full of parasites. The little family was immediately taken in by our foster facilities and fatten up. Her 4 kittens were already rehomed, now Peppermint is waiting for a beautiful home with her own family. At first a bit skittish, she usually warms up to strangers quickly and sometimes even likes to snuggle right away. Additionally, she is very playful, but only when she feels like it. She rarely gets animated to play. Peppermint is generally very people-oriented and follows you through the entire apartment. She loves being the center of attention, but also needs her caves and boxes where she can retreat when she wants some peace. The beautiful female cat prefers the company of people and does not get along well with most other cats. Therefore, she does not necessarily need another cat in her new home. She remains her favorite solo princess. Peppermint is accustomed to life on the street, so she would be very happy to have some outdoor time in her new home, for example in her own garden. However, she has lived in the foster home for some time as a house cat, so she has already gotten used to that. Nonetheless, she would definitely appreciate a cat-safe netted balcony where she can catch some fresh air now and then. This cat needs outdoor access. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

About Peppermint

What life with Peppermint looks like

Peppermint is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peppermint, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peppermint?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peppermint on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peppermint if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peppermint already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peppermint isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peppermint and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
