Perla &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female

At our shelter, Perla awaits her ticket to happiness. The one-year-old female dog (as of September 2023) was discovered in an August night in Guardias Viejas by a woman walking with her own four-legged companion. Because Perla was obviously injured, the attentive woman informed the animal welfare workers, and Perla was taken into care the next day. A first check-up with the vet brought good news: Perla was not severely injured but only had a painful wound on a ball, which made her appearance impossible. After a short time, everything had healed, and the friendly sunshine could begin an recovery stay at Puri’s house, where Perla’s full potential as Everybody’s Darling could be unleashed. Perla is an energetic girl, and her motto in life is “always in the middle of it, not just along for the ride.” She attentively observes everything happening around her, always knows when the chances are good to get a pat or find a crumb in a slightly bulging pocket. Perla has an extremely clever and eager-to-learn nature, and she is so focused on the people she works with that she deserves the stamp “Teamplayer” in gold and with a lace border. Of course, our unpolished diamond still has a lot to learn—but Perla’s star will soon rise; she eagerly embraces the training and is happy when she is encouraged and challenged. Accordingly, we are looking for people who have time for a young, promising super sportswoman. We need a family that likes to be outdoors, knows how to keep a highly motivated lady in good spirits, and shows her how to relax and be pampered after a successful training session. Perla, in turn, is never opposed to a long massage followed by a nap on the couch, provided she had the opportunity to exhaust her muscular body with her gleaming fur, whether playing with friends, playing football, running with the two-legged one, or impressing at the dog park. If you would like to start Perla’s big adventure as a family dog, we look forward to hearing from you soon!

About Perla &#8211

What life with Perla &#8211 looks like

Perla &#8211 is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Perla &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Perla &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Perla &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Perla &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Perla &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Perla &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Perla &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
