Perle

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 5 years

Perle was adopted at the SPA four years ago with her brother Falco to give her a new life. Upon arrival, her socialization was very limited. Since then, she has made great progress thanks to a calm environment, patience, play and positive reinforcement. Perle is a gentle, sensitive and discreet cat who needs time to trust. Once reassured, she enjoys the presence of her reference human, especially in the evening when she comes willingly for her treat, plays or receives caresses. She regularly waits for her owner's return and seeks her presence in quiet moments. Over the years, we have found that life with another cat and the agitation related to a young child generate a significant level of stress for her, which slows down her evolution. After many observations, specific arrangements, behavioral monitoring and camera installation, we have noticed that she regularly feels insecure around her brother in certain areas of the house. We now think that she could fully flourish in a quieter home where she would be the only animal. The ideal home for Perle: - No other cat. - No young child. - Calm and predictable environment. - Patient person respecting her rhythm. - Presence of hiding places, cat trees and high areas. - Adopter willing to continue her socialization gently. Her character: - Very gentle and never aggressive. - Does not scratch and always prefers to move away when she is worried. - Very playful when she feels confident. - Excellent insect hunter. - Discreet and not talkative. - Particularly appreciates perches, cat trees, heights and hiding places. - Naturally uses high spaces to observe and feel safe. - Does not damage furniture or sofas. - Does not like being carried for the moment. Relationship with humans: - Likes to be caressed during moments of confidence and greediness. - Comes regularly to get her evening treat. - Seeks the presence of her reference human when she feels safe. - Has already shown affectionate behaviors, including moments of purring. - Her potential for evolution remains important in a less stressful environment. - We think that once alone in a quiet home, she could continue to progress in her relationship with humans. Activities and habits: - Very playful. - Curious and observant. - Likes to watch her surroundings from high places. - Excellent insect hunter. - If a balcony is accessible, it must be secured because she can be attracted by birds. Cleanliness: Perle normally uses its litter boxes. In periods of significant stress or when she feels insecure, urinary marking may appear. Observations show that these episodes are closely related to her emotional state and environment. We think that a calm home without another cat would greatly reduce this behavior. Perle is not a wild or aggressive cat. She is a sensitive cat who has already made a lot of progress since her adoption and now deserves an environment more adapted to her emotional needs. We are looking for a kind and patient person who will give her the time to gain confidence and fully reveal her personality. The entire history, habits, preferences and arrangements that help her daily life will be transmitted to the future adopter. Her former owner will remain available to accompany the transition and answer questions in order to facilitate a successful adoption. She is not currently at the shelter. In case of interest, please contact us directly (24) or . We are intermediaries. Date of birth: 01/06/2021 - 5 years Old Tests (FIV, FELV, Leukemia): Weight missing

About Perle

What life with Perle looks like

Perle is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at SPA Refuge pour chats La Chaux-de-Fonds in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Perle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Perle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Refuge pour chats La Chaux-de-Fonds handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Perle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Perle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Refuge pour chats La Chaux-de-Fonds will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Perle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Perle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Refuge pour chats La Chaux-de-Fonds early rather than rehoming privately; they know Perle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
