Perlito

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Description Our animal welfare workers report: The young, beautiful tortoiseshell tomcat Perlito had already learned the darker sides of life. He was simply left behind when his owners left the house and moved to another place. Suddenly, Perlito was on his own. The house was empty, offering no cozy spots for rest. No one cared for him or provided him with food and water. Whether he ever got back into his family’s house, we do not know. When our animal welfare workers became aware of Perlito’s situation on-site, they went to the house and took him in. Since then, he has lived in a foster home with other cats, where he is lovingly cared for and attended to. Perlito loves the company of other cats and shows them to be friendly, social, and playful. He is a rather quiet tomcat who does not have much of a desire to cause mischief. Due to his negative experiences, Perlito is initially fearful and mistrustful of people. Generally, he enjoys cuddles, but only when HE wants them. From his people, he wishes for patience, calm, and time to settle in and build trust. He does not want to be pressured. In a quiet, safe environment, Perlito will learn to enjoy regular affection, cuddles, and the attention of a person. Who gives the beautiful tiger the chance at a happy life in her own cat kingdom? The animal here comes from an animal shelter/foster home that houses many animals. For these animals, we are searching for a home for a loving and safe life. The descriptions are brief because there simply isn’t time to provide detailed descriptions during the daily work of caring for all the animals. If interested, a detailed description can be requested by sending your questions directly to the provided email address. We will try to answer these as soon as possible. Home sought For Perlito, we are searching for a loving, understanding home. Our cats come—where health and age allow—neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and with an EU Pass into their new home. Additionally, they are tested for FELV/FIV. We look forward to your contact.

About Perlito

What life with Perlito looks like

Perlito is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Perlito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Perlito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Perlito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Perlito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Perlito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Perlito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Perlito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
