Peru

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Adult · 4 years

02-10-26 Peru is a beautiful girl who has come to us from a breeder and is quite a nervous lady, but she is easy enough to handle and shows us just how brave she can be. She isn't overly sure of us just yet, but she will accept a fuss from us and is trying her very best to be brave and learn that people can be kind. Peru will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home who she can look to for reassurance as she settles in and learns all about home life. Having a canine friend by her side will help her feel more secure as she adjusts to all the new experiences that come with being in a home. Peru has never lived in a home before, so she will need kind and patient adopters who can help her learn about house training and walking on a lead. This may be a little overwhelming for her to begin with, so some quiet garden sniffs will be a lovely way for her to start exploring her new surroundings while she builds her confidence. Peru can live with older, dog-savvy teenagers aged 13+ who are sensible and understand that she will need time and space to settle in. She is a lovely girl who is trying so hard to be brave, and with the right home and someone willing to take a chance on her, we hope she will blossom into a wonderful companion. She has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Peru

What life with Peru looks like

Peru is a adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peru, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peru?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peru on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peru if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peru already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peru isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peru and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
