PESTKA

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Pestka's story didn't start off well. She came to our shelter from very bad conditions where no one took care of her to explore the world, learn the basics and feel what true human closeness is. When she arrived, she was terrified. Everything was new and unknown to her. She couldn't walk on a leash, she didn't know what to expect from a human. She needed time, patience and a calm approach. But Pestka made huge progress! She started discovering, little by little, that a human can be associated with something good. She learned to walk on a leash and showed us what she really is. And she really is a nice, joyful and very human-friendly dog! She loves human contact, she's happy with their presence and she likes to spend time with them. It's clear that the presence of a caregiver brings her great joy. This is a girl who really needs attention and a relationship with a human. In her interactions with other dogs, she can be selective, so if she were to live with another dog, it would be necessary to get acquainted beforehand and check if the acquaintance would be suitable for both parties. We are looking for a home for Pestka where a human will really be present. We don't want her to have to spend most of her time alone again. After all she has experienced, she deserves daily attention, joint walks, interest and a sense that she is important. If there are children in the house, they should be older and able to respect the dog's boundaries. Pestka already knows that a human can be good. Now she needs someone who won't betray her trust. Someone who will show her that a home is not just a place to sleep, but above all presence, security and love. Maybe you will become her human? Pestka would really like to stop waiting for her turn to be happy. Adopting a pet is a big responsibility. Take a few minutes to read our FAQ to make sure you want to adopt an animal. Potrzebowała czasu, cierpliwości i spokojnego podejścia. Adopcja pupila to wielka odpowiedzialność. About PESTKA

What life with PESTKA looks like

PESTKA is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Świdnica in Poland.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adopters usually cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting PESTKA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PESTKA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Świdnica handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PESTKA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PESTKA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Świdnica will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is PESTKA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PESTKA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Świdnica early rather than rehoming privately; they know PESTKA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
