Petrus

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

"Hi, I'm a gentleman around seven years old and my name is Petrus. I'm looking for my forever home, so I would like to tell you a bit about myself! I'm a real cuddle buddy who never gets enough of pats, scratches, and love. If you put your hand on me, you can actually just give up all plans for the rest of the day - because then it's time for cuddles! I am the first one to run when people come to visit, because new people mean more hands to scratch me. I am currently living in foster care with my good senior friends Brutus and Carla, whom I have become very fond of. We rub against each other and find safety in each other's company. I would really like to be adopted together with them if you have space in your heart and home. If not, I would prefer a home that already has one or preferably several kind and patient cats. It is very important for me to have cat friends around me - it gives me security, calmness, and lots of joy. I love food (maybe a little too much), and lately I have started to show a playful side as well. Snoring and snickering are totally magically funny! I don't really like being lifted, but I tolerate it. I am probably completely deaf, or at least have very poor hearing. Therefore, I can startle at sudden things or movements, so a home without small children is probably best for me. Calm, patient people are exactly what I need. Here in the foster home there is also a small and very calm dog, and I have become quite secure with him. I am actually a pretty funny little clown - I make small antics around the house, and me and my friends love to sit and watch the aquarium. It's like watching TV, only better. I hope that maybe you, reading this, feel that you could be my new safe person. If you have a calm home and good cat friends I can get to know at my own pace, then I think we could be perfect for each other. Would you like to meet me (and maybe Brutus and Carla too)? I am already looking forward to it! 💛🐾" - Greetings Petrus Petrus Health Information: Petrus, Brutus and Carla have been diagnosed with a condition called feline eosinophilic granuloma complex (EGC). This can result in small, harmless bumps in the mouth - including on the tongue - and is a form of immune reaction that often relates to allergies. The condition is not contagious, and the cats are living fine with it as it is today. They do not require any special treatment now, but like all cats they benefit from a stable home with clean water, good nutrition and normal hygiene. The three of them can also be a bit sensitive due to reduced hearing. With calm surroundings and patient people around them, they thrive very well and can live completely normal, good lives. They should live indoors, but can enjoy a cat-proof patio where they can get some fresh air.

About Petrus

What life with Petrus looks like

Petrus is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Hjerte for Hjemløse Katter in Trollåsen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Petrus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Petrus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hjerte for Hjemløse Katter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Petrus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Petrus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hjerte for Hjemløse Katter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Petrus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Petrus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hjerte for Hjemløse Katter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Petrus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NB). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
