Adopt Pharaoh and Sphinx

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 4 months

Pharaoh & Sphinx arrived in our care along with their Mum, Cleopatra. Unfortunately, their human companion was no longer able to care for them. They have spent the last few weeks in a foster home, where they have had no end of fun, from chasing each other around the living room to cuddles with their foster family. These two boys have playful and loving personalities that will make their forever family complete. As you may have noticed, Pharaoh has a deformed right forelimb. Our vets have checked him on several occasions, and the consensus is to X-ray the leg when he is castrated. At that point, we will know whether the leg is fixable or if it will need to be amputated. OAS will cover the cost of the surgery, but it must be done with Hart Vets in Bicester. The outcome will be decided between Hart Vets and ourselves, with Pharaoh’s best interest at heart. They will need outdoor access once they're neutered at around 4 months old.

About Pharaoh and Sphinx

What life with Pharaoh and Sphinx looks like

Pharaoh and Sphinx is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pharaoh and Sphinx, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pharaoh and Sphinx?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pharaoh and Sphinx on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pharaoh and Sphinx if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pharaoh and Sphinx already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pharaoh and Sphinx isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pharaoh and Sphinx and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
