Phineas

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten

male Found/Free-roaming Born ca. 2024 EKH neutered [x] yes / [] no At the animal shelter since 01.04.2026 ________________________ We test every cat with a quick test for FIV ("Cat AIDS", info here!) and FeLV ("Cat Leukemia", info here!) and clarify the status. We inform here about the risk of FIP disease ("Feline Infectious Peritonitis"). ________________________ Phineas was found with neurological abnormalities in Niederklein, Stadtallendorf, brought to the emergency service, was there overnight on a drip, and could be transferred to us completely unremarkably the next day. He was already neutered, unfortunately not marked, and no one reported his found status. He is a friendly, open, and very communicative tomcat. He does not always and constantly want to be bothered, but after getting used to his new environment and with a little bit of peace and love, he is very happy to be with his people and to enjoy attention. Unfortunately, Phineas meets other cats more stressed and in a bad mood, so he stays separately with us and is always looking for a home as a single cat. Since apparently no one misses him, we are looking for a nice home with a free roam in the most cat-friendly environment for Phineas. Health-wise, he is unremarkable and has not shown any neurological symptoms since being found – perhaps he came into contact with a toxic substance. We very much wish for Phineas that he will soon have a home that showers him with a lot of attention! ________________________ (As of 29.04.2026) (Click images to view them in full size!) The description gives the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or new assessments. It can always happen that an animal shows or develops differently due to changing circumstances both here at the animal shelter and in the new home.

About Phineas

What life with Phineas looks like

Phineas is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Phineas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Phineas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Phineas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Phineas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Phineas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Phineas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Phineas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
