adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Phoenix can stay forever! His story: The small approximately 1.5-year-old Phoenix has already gone through so much in his young life. He was kept on a chain in Romania and barely fed. When he caught a chicken out of hunger, his owner brutally beat him with a stick until his spine broke. After that, he was abandoned and left to die. Fortunately, he was found in time by animal rescuers and medically treated. The spinal fracture was surgically stabilized—and Phoenix showed an impressive will to live: He began to walk again. In the meantime, the plate used was removed in a further operation in a specialized clinic in Germany. A current CT has shown that his spine is stable and fortunately, his spinal cord has not been damaged. Further operations or pain medication are, at least for the foreseeable future, not necessary to strengthen his muscles and improve his gait, but he should be regularly physiotherapy-supported. On his foster home, Phoenix has settled in wonderfully. He is highly people-oriented, seeks the closeness of his foster mom, and follows her step by step. Despite his history, his trust and affection remain unbroken. He gets along very well with other dogs and even cats, showing social and friendly behavior. Even horses are something he has already become acquainted with. Phoenix is about 45 cm tall, currently weighs around 12 kg, and is a cheerful, sensitive, and affectionate young dog. For him, we wish a understanding home—ideally ground-level or with few stairs—that continues to support his therapeutic and emotional needs and gives him the security, care, and love he so deserves. Phoenix can be met on his foster home upon agreement and, after a positive assessment, will be rehomed to a grace place without an adoption fee. He comes microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, and of course, with his EU pet passport. Who would like to give this enchanting little fellow a loving home and show him that life also has a lot of beauty to offer? Many thanks, Caro! You named Phoenix! Date: 01.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank Caro! Du hast Phoenix seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 01.04.2026

About Phoenix

What life with Phoenix looks like

Phoenix is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Phoenix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Phoenix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Phoenix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Phoenix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Phoenix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Phoenix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Phoenix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
