adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Pia has found a home! Her story: Colorful Canine Gangs seeks their people! Dopey, Candy, Isipho, Schnuppi, Callida, Gino, and Pia have been eagerly waiting for your inquiry! The siblings were found alone near a farm when they were just about 2-3 days old. The poor little ones must have been freshly abandoned. We took the rattle gang into our care and bottle-fed them. Now, the little ones are around 3 months old and all are doing well. We are now searching for a home for each of these little rascals! Do you have the heart to take in a puppy? Pia is a cute little girl dog and she is open, curious, and very friendly. She likes to play with her siblings and enjoys being petted. Pia is about 3 months old and we expect her to grow to a medium to large size when she is fully grown. Pia is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of her and will show her how a normal doggy life works. She is still a baby and needs to learn a lot. Sometimes, a little mishap shouldn't be held against her, and Pia should always be guided with a positive training style. She is looking forward to her new life with beautiful nature walks, lots of snuggles, and also a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down. They often forget everything they have learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to consistently but lovingly train them. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Our Pia is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings her EU pet passport and can be fostered. Pia would be very happy to have an appropriate doggy life. Many thanks Nici K.! You have given Pia a name and thus an identity! Date: 27.05.

About Pia

What life with Pia looks like

Pia is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
