Adopt Picchu

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 10 years

Photos taken by oilp studio ( .oilp ). Age: born on 01/11/2023 Identification: 250 269 610 934 596 Physical characteristics: Picchu is a beautiful brown and white tabby cat. Tested negative for FeLV/FIV, identified, spayed, and vaccinated Personality: found on the street, our Picchu has come a long way. But Picchu is a fighter and he has fought hard to live. Today, he is doing very well! He is steady on his paws and like all teens, he is learning life and loves to explore the world around him. You give him a feather toy, you throw a ball and he's off running everywhere. He loves to have a view outside to watch the birds or others, that's his bit of a gossip side. At nap time or when evening comes, the tender moments arrive. He will put his paws in the air and look at you with love before falling asleep. He will also be a good playmate for children over the age of 10, as Picchu is a dynamic and happy cat. He can also suit a single person or a couple. He is an extraordinary cat who has set aside his little birth disability, he no longer thinks about it and neither do we. Moreover, he sees perfectly with both eyes, just not as well with the right eye. He only needs to take one pill every three days to stay healthy. Picchu is only 2 years old and is waiting for his adopters for life. He is currently in a foster home in Paris. Story: found on the street. Ideal placement: with adopters who have already had a cat and have sufficient space (minimum 40 m2) for him to play and run around. To be adopted alone, without another cat. Contact: animal is in foster care in Paris. Contact Emilie after 7 pm (weekends), by email or via web form.

About Picchu

What life with Picchu looks like

Picchu is a small adult european shorthair cat waiting at Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 in Paris.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Picchu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Picchu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Picchu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Picchu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Picchu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Picchu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 early rather than rehoming privately; they know Picchu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
