Piccolo

Mixed Breed · Male

‼️PICCOLO IS DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR A HOME‼️ Piccolo is a 5-year-old dog of featherweight. He has been with us since June 2025. He probably did not have an easy life. He came to the animal shelter with a symptom of constantly shaking head. After neurological consultations and imaging diagnostics, he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus. In September, he moved to a temporary home for several weeks, where he could recover from the surgery to implant a ventriculoperitoneal shunt, which gave him a chance to live without pain. After recovery, Maluch returned to the animal shelter and feels good. The operation went according to plan. At this time, Piccolo no longer requires any special care. He just needs a quiet place and loving people. The guy will probably always remain an exceptional dog 😉 He is a delicate and sensitive dog. The years of illness sometimes show themselves. But we hope that now, when he finally lives without pain, his quality of life will significantly improve. What else can we say about this guy? He loves to lie in bed, gets along well with all dogs, is a fan of toys, especially stuffed animals. Despite his small size, Piccolo is not the type of a cuddle dog. He values his independence and although he feels good in the company of a person, he does not excessively seek affection. On walks, Piccolo takes as much as he can from the surrounding peace on forest trails. He handles the leash quite well. He is a little stubborn, but once guided in the right direction, he is ready to follow the caregiver. He finds his way well in the company of other dogs. He is interested in them and friendly, but not pushy. Riding in a car slightly stresses him, but with human support, he definitely manages. He is not a big fan of veterinary visits and clearly makes that known. We really ask for a chance for this wonderful dog. He still has a long way to go. Let it be a good life at last.

‼️PICCOLO PILNIE SZUKA DOMU‼️ Piccolo to 5-letni psiak wagi piórkowej. Jest z nami od czerwca 2025 r. Zapewne nie miał łatwego życia. Trafił do schroniska z objawem nieustannie drżącej główki. Potrzebuje jedynie spokojnego miejsca i kochających ludzi. Niech to będzie wreszcie dobre życie.

About Piccolo

What life with Piccolo looks like

Piccolo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piccolo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piccolo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piccolo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piccolo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Piccolo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piccolo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piccolo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
