PIDO

Male

Our European-Shorthair tomcat PIDO was born around 2015, is male, neutered, and came to us because the veterinary costs that his previous owners could no longer afford to cover. PIDO is a friendly and people-oriented tomcat who builds a close bond with his trusted people. He is clingy, cuddly, and enjoys every form of attention. He would rather spend as much time as possible with his people and be part of their everyday life. He is talkative and actively seeks contact. In new situations or with strangers, PIDO can initially be a bit shy. Once he has gained trust, he shows his loving and cuddly side and develops into a loyal companion. For PIDO, we are looking for a quiet home suitable for apartment living with a well-secured, cat-safe netted balcony. Larger, sensible children from about 12 years old could be considered, provided they respect his quiet phases. PIDO seems likely to be compatible with fellow animals. We also envision a coexistence with quiet, cat-experienced dogs after a proper introduction. PIDO brings some health issues that need to be considered in his future home. He suffers from high blood pressure and a thyroid overfunction, and requires regular veterinary care. Additionally, his digestion is sensitive, and he tends to have diarrhea. Bladder infections also belong to the health issues his future owners should be aware of. During an examination, abnormalities in the heart were also noted. Currently, no treatment is required, but a control examination is scheduled at the beginning of the year to monitor the development.

-0Fax: 089/90 73 20E-Mail

About PIDO

What life with PIDO looks like

PIDO is a adult cat waiting at Tierschutzverein München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting PIDO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PIDO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein München handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PIDO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PIDO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein München will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is PIDO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PIDO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein München early rather than rehoming privately; they know PIDO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
