Adopt Piecito

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Piecito arrived at our shelter on September 26, 2025. Since then, we have gradually come to know his personality and better understand what he needs. He is a dog who, at first glance, can be wary of people he doesn't know. He doesn't rush to approach; he needs his time and space to observe, process, and start feeling secure. Therefore, it's important for anyone interested in adopting him to understand that the bond with him won't be immediate; it will be built with patience and respect. Once he overcomes that initial barrier, he shows his true nature: he is a loving, affectionate dog with a very charming curiosity about his surroundings. He enjoys exploring and, when he trusts, also enjoys contact and company. We are looking for a quiet home with people willing to give him the time he needs to adapt and trust. Piecito is not an "instant" dog, but he has a lot to offer when he is understood and accompanied through his process.

About Piecito

What life with Piecito looks like

Piecito is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Villena in Spain.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piecito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piecito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Villena handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piecito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piecito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Villena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Piecito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piecito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Villena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piecito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
