Piet

Male · Young · 1 year

Our cute Piet, a neutered European Longhair mix, was born in mid-2025 and is now waiting for people who will give him the attention he so desperately craves. Piet is an exceptionally loving, well-socialized, and affectionate tomcat. He loves being close to his people and actively demands cuddles and snuggles. For those seeking a four-legged companion who wants to be involved rather than just along for the ride, Piet will find a loyal friend. Other cats are not a requirement for Piet – his greatest happiness are people who have time for him and return his affection. For Piet, we wish for a loving home suitable for apartment living, preferably with a secured balcony or a secured terrace where he can observe the world and enjoy the sun. If you would like to meet him, please click the "Cat inquiry" button and fill out the online form completely. This way, we can get all relevant information beforehand for our first conversation.

About Piet

What life with Piet looks like

Piet is a young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Ludwigshafen in Ludwigshafen/Rheim.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ludwigshafen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ludwigshafen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Piet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ludwigshafen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
