adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Pilgrim can stay forever in his Romanian foster home! His story: Rescued from certain death, the approximately 4.5-year-old Pilgrim is now searching for a new start in life, with a family that loves him. The affectionate white tomcat with cute gray spots should not be among us anymore if it were up to the heartless people who wanted to put him to sleep. The reason? Unimaginable, but true, a broken hind leg. Fortunately, one of our dear animal welfare advocates was informed and picked him up immediately, taking him to veterinary care. He spent his previous life on the streets, so now he longs for a warm cuddle basket and a little spot in the heart of loving people. His leg is fully healed now, and he exudes so much warmth, one could almost say he is one of the most affectionate toms out there. He waits in his foster home, hoping to be seen and adopted. Pilgrim is a very people-oriented little kitten who always wants his people nearby and enjoys their full attention. He is cuddly, loving, and gentle, like no other, a true little dream tomcat that one could only wish for. Due to his background and the time spent on the streets, a release is not for him at all. What more does one want than loving people around and a spot by the window with a view, or ideally, a cat-safe balcony to catch some fresh air and listen to and wait for the bird song? He gets along well with his fluffy fellow animals, but whether he would also understand a dog, we cannot say yet. The little fur-nose has been vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, dewormed, and treated for fleas for his new home. Additionally, he tested negative for FiV and FelV. He also has an EU pet passport and will travel to his new home after a positive assessment. Would you like to give the cuddly and gentle little tomcat his first forever home? Then we look forward to your completed self-assessment form! Heartfelt thanks to Silvie S.! You have given the little Pilgrim his name and thus his identity. As of: 05.07. This cat needs outdoor access.

Lieben Dank an Silvie S.! Stand: 05.07.2024

About Pilgrim

What life with Pilgrim looks like

Pilgrim is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pilgrim, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pilgrim?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pilgrim on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pilgrim if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pilgrim already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pilgrim isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pilgrim and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
