Pilù

Male · Young · 3 years

Young, 3 years old, neutered male. Medium build, with a brindled coat and black spots. Born in March 2022 (for astrology lovers, we don't know if he's a Pisces or an Aries, we're sorry) and ended up in a dog shelter almost immediately. He was a sweet puppy, friendly, cheerful and full of enthusiasm, but carefree days soon vanished when his days began to be all the same, made of nothing. The lack of freedom and few stimuli make him a bit unruly at first, when he sees the door of his box open, but how can we blame him? He is just eager to receive some cuddles and have someone dedicate some of their time to him. In the dog shelter he shared spaces with other dogs, males and females and, fortunately for them, they were all adopted... now it's his turn! Pilú is a good and beautiful dog, and doesn't know anything about the world: he doesn't know how beautiful it can be to walk in the mountains or swim in a stream (he has never even seen grass), what it means to fall asleep in a soft bed at the foot of the bed, maybe snacking on a treat. He is young and active, needs guidance, rules, play, someone who wants to start a life journey together, who wants to build a relationship of trust with him. He has no special functions or buttons, he's a blank book and needs to learn many things, like going outside and walking on a leash, but he is young and has plenty of time to learn if given the opportunity. He grew up in a kennel, so patience and consistency will be essential to reach every goal, but we believe these are two functions already pre-set in the future adopter, otherwise forget it, the remote control is not included. For him we are looking preferably for a house with a garden and a dynamic person, who has time to dedicate to him, and who will help him discover all the nice things he has missed so far. He hasn't been tested with cats and compatibility is difficult to assess as, living in a dog shelter, he can't go out. It remains therefore an unknown. His story is similar to many others but we hope to change the ending, if you help us by sharing his post, maybe we can, and he thanks you. If instead you think that Pilù may be the right dog for you, and you can be a good friend for him, write to us!

Giovane, 3 anni, castrato.

About Pilù

What life with Pilù looks like

Pilù is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Animalisti Verona ODV in Verona.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pilù, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pilù?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animalisti Verona ODV handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pilù on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pilù if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animalisti Verona ODV will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pilù already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pilù isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animalisti Verona ODV early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pilù and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
