adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Pilvi has found her forever home! Her story: Our fluffy cloud, named Pilvi, was discovered with her siblings and mother in the vast, remote areas of Romania over a year ago and rescued – likely born into great need and without shelter. It seemed that Pilvi's luck had quickly turned, as she could travel to her forever home in Germany quite quickly. Unfortunately, she can't stay there due to family reasons, as her owner must return to her shift, meaning Pilvi would have to be alone for too long – that's why sweet little Pilvi needs a new home! In the past months, Pilvi has developed well. She masters basic commands like "Sit!" and "Stay!" without a problem. She only approaches the food bowl when allowed. Pilvi's pretty paws enjoy walks, finding them exciting. She loves movement, sniffing, and exploring. She walks obediently and attentively on the leash. Car rides also work smoothly. Pilvi can also be left alone for up to four hours without complaining. She generally meets most fellow animals with friendliness, but seems not to like dogs. Children are welcome to be part of the human pack – here, Pilvi should have time to adjust to the new two-legged family members. Given her size, we are looking for a home in the countryside with a garden that offers plenty of space. Pilvi also needs regular extended walks with mental stimulation. Play and cuddles should also be on the daily schedule, as our little fur-nose is still very young and wants to fully develop. Despite her suspected HSH genes, she shows no territorial behavior and is open and friendly to strangers. Will you give the affectionate and lovable Pilvi a second chance at great happiness? She has earned it so much. She will of course bring her EU pet passport with her. Our little mouse would also be thrilled to have a foster home. We thank Mrs. Schmidt-Jakisch, who gave Pilvi a name and thus an identity. Status: 26.10. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 26.10.2025

About Pilvi

What life with Pilvi looks like

Pilvi is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pilvi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pilvi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pilvi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pilvi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pilvi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pilvi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pilvi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
