Adopt Pimienta

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Pimienta Pimenta arrived on April 25, 2026, in her foster family in good condition. Despite many years in the animal shelter, she shows herself as a exemplary, nice female dog and is already house-trained. In the current household, she now lives with three other dogs. She strongly aligns herself with the Galgo of the family and seeks her proximity. She gets along well with the other dogs, is able to communicate clearly with them, but generally shows less interest in them. In the house, Pimenta behaves very calmly and contentedly, enjoys cuddles, and dozes off. In dog society, she remains alone for several hours without decorating the house. When her foster family comes home, she eagerly wags on her spot and greets everyone enthusiastically as soon as she is called. As soon as it's time to go outside, Pimenta is very excited and obediently puts on her safety harness and collar. She enjoys long walks in the nature reserve, with her nose sniffing everywhere and exploring her surroundings, and she is happy to meet every dog she encounters on the way. Typical of the breed a bit excited when a hare, squirrel, and co. cross her path, she can be well guided with clear commands. A secure harness with a belly strap, safety leash, and tracker is always part of the standard. A secure run would be desirable to stretch her long legs. It would be great if Pimenta had a Galgo buddy in her new home, as she actively seeks the proximity of her own kind and orients herself. foster home in 45884 Gelsenkirchen Age: August 1, 2017 Breed: Galgo Español Size: 58 cm Info: neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, MMT negative Foster parent: Patrizia Crisci Email:

About Pimienta

What life with Pimienta looks like

Pimienta is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Refugio Casas Ibanez e.V. in Wiesbaden.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pimienta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pimienta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Refugio Casas Ibanez e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pimienta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pimienta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Refugio Casas Ibanez e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pimienta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pimienta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Refugio Casas Ibanez e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pimienta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
