adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Pina can stay forever in your foster home! Her story: The beginning of life for Pina and her siblings Motte, Rainer, and Manfred was far from pretty when they were found alone without a mother. No one can say for sure what exactly happened to them. They were fortunately brought to our Public Shelter Bistrita. While they are safe there and receive adequate food, unfortunately, there is not enough time to properly care for the animals in the shelter and to teach the puppies more about human interaction. We wish so much that Pina could soon move into her new home, because winter has already knocked on the door… The winter in Bistrita is very harsh compared to other places. During weather changes, temperatures can reach down to –10 degrees. This is barely tolerable for dogs. The climate is even harder for puppies to endure. Pina is a beautiful, 4-month-old puppy. With her special tri-colored fur patterns, long floppy ears, and puppy eyes, she can wrap anyone around her paw. Our helpers describe her as sweet, playful, and very friendly towards people. Additionally, she gets along well with other dogs and already knows cats. We suspect based on her appearance that the litter received some sheepdog genes. We estimate that she will grow to be medium to large. Pinas future family should be aware that German Shepherds require a lot of physical and mental exertion. It is important to consider character typical traits beforehand. Good exertions include, for example, long walks, dummy training, agility, tracking, and sniffing games. Pina has not yet experienced life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is still ahead of her. She needs people who can approach with love and patience, and possibly also attend some positively working dog training classes with her to forgive her for any mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being alone are still foreign words to her. During puberty, she will certainly test boundaries and may even forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Pina will definitely be a great life partner. Pina is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be adopted after a positive foster home trial. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet mouse! Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Jonna! You gave Pina her name. Date: 01.12.

Vielen Dank an Jonna! Du hast Pina Ihren Namen geschenkt. About Pina

What life with Pina looks like

Pina is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
