Pinky

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 14 years

Pet name: Pinky. Breed: mixed breed. Gender: male / neutered. Age: born 19.04.2012. Size/Weight: 27.8 kg. In the animal shelter since: 08.04.2021. Special features: Pinky was born on 19.04.2012, and he is therefore one of the older residents. He comes with a few age-related issues – especially his spondylosis, which needs to be well managed with regular medication. But this doesn’t bother him much: Pinky has his own mind, his own pace – and his very own style of going through life. Pinky really likes people. He is friendly and open. However, he is not an “anything-goes” kind of dog: If a boundary is crossed, he shows it in a subtle, easily readable way. You just have to listen to him – then you get along wonderfully with him. The biggest adventure with Pinky begins in the house: He is not familiar with a classic family life. For him, chairs, sofas, and kitchen tables are all the same – namely, exciting things to walk over. So, if you insist on perfect etiquette in your living room, Pinky is not the right fit. But if you are willing to introduce him to household life step by step with a wink and some patience, you will find a wonderful companion in him. In everyday life, Pinky is otherwise very easy to get along with. He enjoys walks, orients himself well to his people, and enjoys shared time – without constantly demanding attention. For Pinky, we are looking for a loving home, single-story, with an eye for seniors and a heart for dogs that don’t quite fit the mold. People who are not bothered if things don’t go “by the book” at first – but who take joy in giving an old dog with a history a worthy and beautiful end to his life.

Tiername: Pinky. Rasse: Mischling.

About Pinky

What life with Pinky looks like

Pinky is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Lübbersdorf in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pinky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pinky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lübbersdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pinky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pinky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lübbersdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pinky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pinky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lübbersdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pinky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
