Adopt Pino

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Update to Pino: After about 4 weeks in the foster home, Pino has developed into a great, lively dog! He goes well on a short leash, but also enjoys the freedom on a flexi-leash (when possible). The encounter with other dogs is mostly relaxed, friendly, and inviting for play. He has very good body language, where critical encounters can quickly be steered into a positive direction. He is still learning a lot and fast, and the new owner should continue this (with the help of dog training classes, etc.). Overall, a great positive development in a short time! Pino is a mixed breed (likely with Terrier), who turned 3 years old in January and originally came from Romania a year ago. He was rehomed with a family for 9 months, was unfortunately not sufficiently socialized for the social life and was then considered not suitable for beginners. He is a nice guy, but has a relatively short "fuse," likes to challenge other dogs now and then, and is currently not leash-friendly anymore. BUT: he is absolutely trainable and wants to be guided. He loves doing things and being praised for it. Cuddles are his biggest reward. Pino is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has been regularly dewormed. He is looking for new owners who are willing to consistently go this way with him. He does not get along so well with small children, but is otherwise open to all people. There is no experience with cohabiting with cats in the household. Interested parties for Pino can contact us via the contact form. Your Name (Mandatory field) Your Email Address (Mandatory field)

About Pino

What life with Pino looks like

Pino is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
