Adopt Pitchou

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 2 years

Age: born in June 2012 Identification: 250 269 610 908 290 Physical characteristics: a black cat with silky fur. Tested negative for FIV-FeLV, he is vaccinated and neutered by the association. Temperament: Pitchou is a kind, calm and well-mannered cat. He has his own little character and it's a bit him who decides when to be petted. If you are in a room, he will always be next to you as he is very close to humans. On the couch, he will settle behind you. He also likes to rest on the bed in the bedroom, with the door open. He is a "greedy" cat and you will have to watch out for leaving anything lying around in the kitchen. He understands a firm "no" when something is forbidden. Pitchou was the only cat in his home and therefore must be adopted alone with company. Not being medically followed before, Pitchou is diagnosed with diabetes and receives a little insulin in the morning and evening, he is very easy to care for. Apart from this diabetes, he is in good health, loves to spend a little time outside in the sun on the secure balcony. He has a very small meow to make himself understood when he is hungry. He is a very affectionate cat who attaches quickly, he is quiet at night. History: surrendered to the association after a birth. He experienced this period badly and for two years has ended up living on a neighbor's terrace because the relationship with the growing child was bad. Ideal placement: In a very serious and responsible household with a large living space and presence as well. Pitchou must be the only cat in the household. It is addressed to cat experts who wish to rescue him and allow him to spend beautiful years together. Contact: animal visible in foster care in Paris. Contact Orane, preferably by phone in the evening or on weekends, by email or via web form.

About Pitchou

What life with Pitchou looks like

Pitchou is a small young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 in Paris.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pitchou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pitchou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pitchou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pitchou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pitchou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pitchou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pitchou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
