Pitufo

Basset Hound · Male · Young · 1 year

Pitufo is a small puppy who now lives in a foster home where he is cared for and taught everything he needs to grow up happy. They say he is a very sociable little dog, and the truth is that he loves being with people and making new friends. When someone approaches him, he immediately wags his tail because he is always willing to give love. He is cheerful, playful and very curious; he likes to discover new things and turn any moment into an adventure. As a good puppy, he is still learning, but he puts a lot of effort into it. He enjoys games, caresses, naps after running, and above all, feeling accompanied. He gets along very well with other dogs and adapts easily because he has a sweet, noble and affectionate character. While he waits to find a permanent family, he continues to grow in his foster home, showing every day all the love he carries inside. Can you imagine sharing your life with me? I am eager to find a home to fill with joy, tenderness and licks. For more information on adoptions: DISCOVER HOW TO HELP US

About Pitufo

What life with Pitufo looks like

Pitufo is a young adult basset hound dog waiting at Animales Rioja in Spain.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pitufo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pitufo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animales Rioja handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pitufo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pitufo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animales Rioja will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pitufo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pitufo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animales Rioja early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pitufo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
