Pituso

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Pituso - a little heartbreaker on silent paws. Some dogs are not loud. They don't push themselves into the foreground. They quietly sneak into the heart - just like Pituso. The sensitive puppy still carefully observes new situations. But behind his cautious nature lies a refined soul ready to trust - if given time. And exactly here we can tell something beautiful: Pituso is making great progress and has become a little heartbreaker. During walks he shows more and more that people are not scary at all. He orientates better, walks with interest and you can see how much shared movement and quiet closeness give him security. With each small excursion his courage grows a bit more. Pituso was rescued immediately after birth and knows very little about life outside his previous environment. Many things are still new for him and sometimes also a bit spooky. But trust grows quietly - but it does grow. And if you look closely, you quickly realize how much potential is in this special young dog. Important to know: Pituso can jump high. Therefore, a well-secured garden is absolutely necessary for him. Safety and patience are the most important for him, so he can arrive calmly and continue learning. His big bat-like ears are always on standby - attentive, sensitive and simply unmistakable. He is not one who loudly calls for attention. But one who quietly sneaks into the heart with his gentle nature. For Pituso, we are looking for people with a heart, patience and understanding for a sensitive shelter dog, who let him arrive at his own pace and lovingly take him by the paw. Who will give this little heartbreaker the chance for his forever home? Pituso would also be very happy about a loving foster home. Here goes Pituso's video Here goes Video 2

About Pituso

What life with Pituso looks like

Pituso is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pituso, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pituso?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pituso on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pituso if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pituso already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pituso isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pituso and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
