Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten

Pixel is a three-month-old male cat (as of October 2026). He is microchipped and vaccinated. He is social and gets along well with other cats. Pixel is initially a bit reserved around strangers and new situations. He needs some time to gain trust and get used to his surroundings. Once he has settled in, he shows his curious and playful side and likes to explore his environment. Pixel is looking for a loving home where he can arrive in peace and develop age-appropriately. He will not be placed in single housing. Pixel can be adopted with a sibling (Loki or Vega) or with an existing social cat.

About Pixel

What life with Pixel looks like

Pixel is a medium-sized kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenrettung Gangelt e.V. in Gangelt.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pixel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pixel?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenrettung Gangelt e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pixel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pixel if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenrettung Gangelt e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pixel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pixel isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenrettung Gangelt e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pixel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
