Pixie

The adoption requirements and process are now available! Adoption requirements and process - Apply for this dog now! Pixie's start in life was as sad as you can hardly imagine. Together with her brother Zoran, the little female dog was simply left next to a garbage container, sick, weak, and completely on her own. But fate had other plans for the brave little mouse. She was found in time, overcame a severe parvovirus infection, and has not let her zest for life be taken away. Today, Pixie is completely healthy again, plays, romps, and gives people her full trust despite everything. Visually, Pixie is a real unique one. She looks like a German Shepherd in pocket size and will remain a rather small companion even when fully grown, with her current size of about 30 cm. Her character is described by her Romanian foster home as consistently friendly and nice. Whether it’s other dogs, cats, or children, Pixie is a true all-rounder and gets along with everyone. However, behind the cute exterior lies a young lady who is about to enter puberty. That's why Pixie is looking for people who understand that even small dogs need consistent education. She wishes for a home where she is raised with loving guidance and where the world is explored together with her. Attending dog training classes would surely also appeal to the little Pixie. Pixie is currently 6 months old and will be neutered depending on the departure date. She also travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas, and even has her EU pet passport in her luggage. Thank you, Rebecca H.! You have given Pixie her beautiful name and thus an identity. As of 08.06.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Pixie

What life with Pixie looks like

Pixie is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pixie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pixie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pixie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pixie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pixie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pixie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pixie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
