Adopt Plume

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Plume, is a real purring machine. She is an extremely affectionate little cat, close to humans, who constantly seeks contact and moments of tenderness. She loves being taken care of and will return it tenfold. Plume is infected with FIV (feline AIDS). This means her immune system is more fragile. Therefore, she must live indoors only and not be in contact with aggressive cats, to avoid any risk of injury or contamination. She also has serious eye problems: a dislocation of the crystalline lenses that causes glaucoma (high intraocular pressure), very painful. Unfortunately, she has lost her sight. Today, treatment can lower the pressure and relieve her, but her condition remains permanent. Two options exist: continue the drops for life or consider an operation that consists of removing the contents of the eye to permanently eliminate the pain. Currently, the pressure is correct on the right, but still too high on the left, so a veterinary follow-up is essential. She allows herself to be handled well by two people because she can sometimes struggle. She benefits from the support of the 30 Millions d'Amis Foundation: her adoption is done with a free donation (capped at 50 €) and an aid of up to 1000 € for veterinary fees is granted.

About Plume

What life with Plume looks like

Plume is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at SPA de Besançon in France.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Plume, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Plume?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Besançon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Plume on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Plume if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Besançon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Plume already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Plume isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Besançon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Plume and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
