POE

Labrador Retriever · Female · Young · 1 year

Poe is still waiting. ❤️ A few months ago, we announced that Poe had finally found a family. For two months, she was carefully supported and accompanied. An educational follow-up was put in place, and everyone did their best to give her every chance of success. Unfortunately, this adoption didn’t work out. So Poe has returned to Loan, waiting for her real family to finally cross her path. These past months haven’t been a failure—at least not in the way we initially thought. On the contrary, they’ve allowed us to truly understand who Poe really is. We’ve tried different approaches: educational work, CBD, herbs, supplements, calming treatments... And today, we finally have the answer. Poe isn’t a “problem” dog. Poe is an extremely sensitive and hyperactive dog. She feels everything intensely. She’s bursting with energy, eager to live, to explore, and to share. Like many working or sporting dogs, she simply needs her needs to be respected. When she can expend her energy physically and mentally, Poe is an extraordinary dog. She knows how to be alone. She’s sociable. She’s joyful. She’s deeply attached to her human. But when she can’t release all this energy, frustration takes over—and she ends up directing it toward her surroundings. That’s why we’re no longer looking for “a family.” We’re looking for THE family. A sporty family. A family that loves going on adventures. People who dream of a true partnership in life. 🏔️ Hiking. 🌊 Swimming. 🚣 Canoeing and kayaking. 🛓 Weekend getaways in nature. 🏃‍♀️ Running and long walks. Poe would be the happiest dog ever. She loves water. She’s agile. Curious. Intelligent. Always ready to discover something new. Despite the abandonments she’s experienced, despite the breakups she’s gone through, she continues to love humans with a trust that inspires admiration. Today, we’re almost in July 2026. Poe is only one and a half years old. One and a half years... and already several abandonments behind her. We refuse for her story to end like this. Somewhere out there, there’s someone who won’t see a “too energetic” dog—but rather an adventure partner, a loyal companion, a real ray of sunshine. What if that person read this message today? ❤️ Please share her story. It might just be thanks to you that Poe finally finds her forever family. Adoption application form: Today, we’re taking good care of her... But she deserves, at last, a family that will never abandon her again 🤍 ⚠️ We’ll be very careful during her adoption process. Several meetings will be necessary to make sure it’s the right family for her.⚠️

Poe attend toujours. Poe a seulement 1 an et demi.

About POE

What life with POE looks like

POE is a young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Association Thalya Protection in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting POE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about POE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Thalya Protection handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw POE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt POE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Thalya Protection will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is POE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if POE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Thalya Protection early rather than rehoming privately; they know POE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
