Adopt Poke

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Poke is a cute, sweet, and charming female kitten who wants a calm adult home with safe outdoor options, preferably with cat doors. My name is Poke. I am a cute and a bit sassy young lady who hopes to find someone who appreciates a cat with personality and charming quirks. One of the best things I know is standing in the doorway. Warm backside inside + fresh air outside = totally perfect. I like being outside, but prefer short excursions, and I am quick to let you know when I want to come back in. I have a lot to tell you about my adventures in the garden. That’s why I dream of a home with good outdoor options, preferably with cat doors, so I can switch between inside and outside as suits me. My eating habits differ from most cats. I love dry food and really enjoy hard treats, while wet food isn’t quite my thing. Cat soup and chicken broth are my absolute favorites, but if there are meat bits left over, I let them sit. I happily accept a treat after a meal. You have to keep that smile. When I’m happy to see you, I hop around your legs like a little dolphin. Then I hope you sit down with me and give me some petting, preferably a good pat on the rump. If I’m extra content, I might play with your hair a bit too. That’s my way of showing affection.

About Poke

What life with Poke looks like

Poke is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
