Gender: female Age: born around August 2023 (approximate estimated date) Size: small (7.7 kg - August 2024) Date of arrival at the shelter: August 2024 Spayed: yes Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Compatibility: okay with dogs Temperament: fearful Progress: November 14, 2025: Tonight, a little surprise for Polly... no knakies tonight, but a chicken thigh instead... I think she’s never had one before... She took her time before even touching it. She sniffed it, licked it, but didn’t quite dare to take a real bite... This caution probably saved her from being poisoned... But eventually, she did pick it up and pull it toward herself... I guess she’s now gnawing on it in her hiding spot. It’s amazing how soft her fur still is—I briefly brushed against it yesterday... Just for a brief moment, before she quickly pulled away... But gradually, she’s getting more and more comfortable with my presence, as long as I don’t try anything else besides offering her a knaki. November 9, 2025: Polly hasn’t made much progress... She no longer trembles when I approach, but still refuses any contact—whether with another dog or a human... She’ll accept tiny pieces of sausage from the tips of my fingers, but is ready to panic and bite at the slightest movement... June 2025: POLLY finally decided to leave her hiding spot on the grassy platform. I was really worried when I couldn’t find her there one evening... But she’d simply moved to the other side, hiding under the bushes, still on the bench that surrounds the courtyard... When I arrive, her little curious snout appears through the gap between the branches... No change at all... She delicately grabs the sausages, gobbles down the sausage meat—but it’s impossible to touch her... And she also refuses any contact with the Bichons... My wrist unfortunately still hurts a lot, so we’ve postponed with the vet until late July the procedure to sedate her, put on a harness, and immerse her in the living room, hoping that the Selgian treatment will work... She’s still just as beautiful, my little red fox. February 12, 2025: Polly still refuses all contact. And ultimately, she has very few interactions with Amazon too. Now that the quarantine period is over, I’m going to put her together with a few nice Bichon females who are bigger than her this afternoon when Michel is here... I’d love for her to find one or two friends who could cuddle up to her and help her regain confidence... but it’s going to take a long time. About Polly

What life with Polly looks like

Polly is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Remember Me France in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Polly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Polly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Remember Me France handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Polly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Polly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Remember Me France will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Polly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Polly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Remember Me France early rather than rehoming privately; they know Polly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
