How do I contact the shelter about Pomelo?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pomelo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Pomelo if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Pomelo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Pomelo isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pomelo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Name: Pomelo Breed: Mixed Breed Gender: Male Height: approx. 48 cm Age: August 1, 2024 Weight: approx. 12 kg Child-friendly: Yes Compatible with other dogs: Yes Compatible with cats: Needs to be tested Neutered: Yes Veterinarian’s note: microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, EU pet passport Mediterranean test: negative Remarks: APAP.PLASENCIA Current location: Spain Adoption fee: 600 Euros including transport Last update: March 2026 From a troubled child to a sunny personality Pomelo’s start in life was anything but easy. He was found in an industrial area completely exhausted, malnourished, and plagued by parasites. Yet Pomelo has proven just how much of a fighter he is! At the sanctuary, he was lovingly nursed back to health and has now fully recovered. Now he’s ready to leave the shadows of his past behind him. Although Pomelo has hunting dog ancestry, it seems he was never trained for hunting. So far, he hasn’t shown any interest in hunting whatsoever. Instead, he shines with typical hunting dog qualities that make him the perfect companion: He’s extremely people-oriented, gets along well with other dogs, and is known to be absolutely fond of children. Pomelo is a dog with a heart of gold. As soon as someone approaches his kennel, he can hardly wait to say “Hello!” He eagerly runs up to everyone and longs for even the smallest bit of affection. He simply wants to belong. We’re looking for an active home for Pomelo where he can finally explore the world. Since he probably hasn’t experienced much about life in a house yet, he’ll need: Time & patience: To learn the basics of dog behavior at his own pace. Love & security: People who give him a sense of safety. Activity: Walks and adventures in nature. Pomelo is ready to give his heart away—for life? Apply at www.pfotenhilfe-sachsen.de

About Pomelo

What life with Pomelo looks like

Pomelo is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
