Pommie

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 4 years

Pommie is a friendly and fun dog looking for a home where she can be loved and cared for. She was found and brought to our shelter by the animal ambulance. Pommie had a chip, but it was registered to the breeder. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any information about her owner. To our surprise, no one has claimed her. And that's despite Pommie being such a lovely dog! Pommie was born on March 9, 2022. At our shelter, she shows her friendly and calm side. She is easy to get along with and loves going outside. She has a strong pace when walking and enjoys going at her own pace. On the playground, we see that she also likes to burn off energy. She loves running and can enjoy that to the fullest, possibly with another dog. We are looking for people who like to be active and can give Pommie enough exercise. She deserves a place where she can be herself, go on adventures, and enjoy a warm bed after all her escapades.

NL·Show original

About Pommie

What life with Pommie looks like

Pommie is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dierencentrum De Mère in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pommie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pommie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierencentrum De Mère handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pommie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pommie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierencentrum De Mère will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pommie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pommie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierencentrum De Mère early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pommie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
