POMPON

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 2 years

Status: Found Breed: European Sex: Male Microchip: 900223001045930 Born: 16/03/2024 Country: Belgium At our shelter, since: 09/05/2026 POMPON is a young European male cat, with a gentle gaze and a touching sensitivity. He is a small being still very reserved, cautiously exploring the world. He has never meowed or purred yet, a sign of a cat still in the early stages of socialization, but also of a great inner gentleness that awaits a reassuring environment. His assets: Perfect hygiene — POMPON uses his litter box flawlessly. OK with other cats — He will appreciate the presence of a non-dominant cat, which can help him gain confidence. Can handle solitude — He can stay alone without stress. Comfortable in transit — Car trips do not pose any problem for him. Points to consider: Very fearful of children: a home without young children will be essential. Socialization to continue: he will need gentleness, patience, and a calm environment. Unknown compatibility with dogs: to be evaluated according to the dog’s temperament. He could live in an apartment if the environment is calm and secure. A garden could help him flourish, but it is not essential. POMPON seeks a family: calm, patient, and kind, willing to give him the time to open up; without children, to respect his sensitivity; with another gentle, non-dominant cat, which would greatly help his progress; capable of offering him a stable, secure, and predictable environment. With tenderness and respect, POMPON will become a deeply affectionate companion. He simply needs to be shown that the world can be gentle. Adoption possible only with a "permit to keep an animal" if you reside in Wallonia. For more information, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 204 49 50. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children.

About POMPON

What life with POMPON looks like

POMPON is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting POMPON, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about POMPON?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw POMPON on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt POMPON if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is POMPON already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if POMPON isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know POMPON and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
