adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Pooka has found a home! His story: A gang of rascals on the lookout for their families. These are Pooka and his sisters Naika, Asha, Fiene, and Nadja. The little furballs were found together with their mother at -15 degrees in the cold. What this would have meant for the little ones, if they had not been found, we can all imagine. But they were lucky and are currently in a foster home. This means, however, that they are still out there. While they are protected from wind and weather, a warm dog bed does not replace that. Pooka is the only boy in the bunch and a true treasure. He is friendly, playful, and open-minded. He loves people and other dogs. How he gets along with cats has not yet been tested. Pooka is just over 7 weeks old. His mother is about 45 cm tall. The father is probably a bit smaller. We therefore expect the cute little guy to be small to medium-sized. Since all the puppies in the litter have a shortened tail, they cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. Pooka's mother could be a Terrier mix. Terriers are usually smart, brave, and character-strong dogs. For puppies like Pooka, a visit to a positively working dog training class is a great addition to their home upbringing, and both human and dog can learn a lot. So, nothing stands in the way of growing into a strong team. As with all puppies, Pooka still needs to learn what life in a household with all its rules is like. Anyone who decides to give a little canine soul a home should be aware in advance that this is a big responsibility and can also be demanding. But for those who step up, there is rich reward. Has Pooka already wrapped you around his paw?. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped. Some symptoms here are age-related. This animal is not yet neutered/spayed.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 18.02.2026

About Pooka

What life with Pooka looks like

Pooka is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pooka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pooka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pooka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pooka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pooka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pooka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pooka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
