Adopt Pop

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Videolink: August 2022: Videolink: October 2022: Pop and Pulce have become such beautiful young dogs. It can't be true that the two handsome boys still have to endure life in a LIDA shelter pen and can't find their own home. When will Pop and Pulce finally be able to wrap their tails and go on a wonderful journey to a loving family? June 6, 2024: During our visit to the Rifugio of the LIDA at the end of June 2024, we also saw Pop and Pulce again. It really broke our hearts to think that the two had arrived as babies in the Rifugio and have already been there for two years. Two precious years of their lives have already been spent behind bars—exposed to daily stress, the unspeakable noise from over 700 other dogs, and the inevitable chaos. They desperately needed more human affection. But how could that happen when the staff are already fully occupied with feeding and cleaning the pens? And the few visitors who do come, mainly to care for the small, cute dogs? To the back pens, where Pop and Pulce are also confined, neither visitors nor dog walkers ever venture. So day after dreary day passes for the poor dogs. So their lives pass away... It was very surprising for Pop and Pulce that strangers suddenly appeared at their pens. Pulce was also quite cautious but friendly. Pop on the other hand found our visit genuinely exciting. He constantly sought our company, was curious, interested, and open. When we left, both looked sadly after us... Where are the people who are ready to give an adult dog the chance at a good home with a close family connection? Or who want to help Pop and Pulce find a foster home to start a new life? September 12, 2025: A colleague and her daughter sacrificed part of their vacation time to personally meet some of the shelter dogs, including Pop and Pulce. We could learn firsthand how the dogs have developed—Pop and Pulce included. Pop and Pulce are open, playful, loving, and curious. Both enjoyed being petted. Pulce wanted to be on the lap, while Pop splashed in the water bowl with his front paws. Both are very beautiful and pleasant dogs: Pulce with slightly beige ears and a slightly fluffy coat, Pop with black-framed eyes that beautifully accentuate his face. Would you like to give Pop or Pulce the chance at a loving home? If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption means not only joy but also work and great responsibility, then we look forward to your message. We provide shelter services nationwide.

About Pop

What life with Pop looks like

Pop is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pop, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pop?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pop on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pop if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pop already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pop isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pop and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
