Adopt Popi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Since October 1, 2023, a little tricolor whirlwind named Popi has been living in Linares at one of our foster locations. The playful mix-female dog, who undoubtedly has a good portion of Terrier blood in her lineage, was wandering the streets of the city center alone. A loving animal person, who is closely connected to ArcoNatura, discovered Popi, who was searching for orientation among the cars, passersby, sounds, and lights and was begging every passerby who gave her a moment of attention for help. When Popi's rescuer stopped his car to help the little beauty, Popi immediately ran over, jumped onto the seat independently, and was simply grateful to finally be relieved of her responsibilities. After the animal welfare workers at ArcoNatura were informed, Popi was microchipped, and they tried to locate her owner at the police stations and animal shelters, but no one was missing our playful firecracker. The perky girl can live with her rescuer until a permanent family is found – and honestly, it would be surprising if it took too long. Who wouldn't want to let a sunbeam in such a pretty package into their heart and home? Popi shows herself in her foster family as an unproblematic and active friend. She likes to go for walks, has many doggy friends in the neighborhood, and equally delights the children around her. Popi is only one year old (as of November 2023) and open to any career that promises enough fun. Whether she plays guard dog with the children in the backyard or trains a marathon runner as a personal trainer, whether she discovers new talents at the dog park or even becomes a hero in the rescue service, it will become clear once she settles into her future home. For Popi, only one thing counts: that she is loved, has plenty of time with her family, has enough cookies hidden in the pockets of her favorite people, and can take on the role of a warm bottle during cozy movie nights. If you have fallen in love with Popi, we look forward to hearing from you. Perhaps your personal sunbeam will soon be beaming into your bedroom – even on the darkest days…

About Popi

What life with Popi looks like

Popi is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Popi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Popi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Popi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Popi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Popi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Popi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Popi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
