Pöpi

Border Collie · Male · Adult · 5 years

Breed: Border-Terrier-mixed-breed male dog Age: born ca. 2020 Halli… Hallo… Hallöchen… my name is Pöpi… I am a handsome, blonde bachelor in a tousled outfit, looking for true love!! Additionally, I am a lively, spirited boy who loves to explore the world and is all about movement… On walks, I really come alive… I love being on the go, sniffing out new things, and being active with my people… Throughout it all, I am friendly towards all two- and four-legged beings… Cuddling is not always at the top of my list, but I enjoy proximity in my own reserved way… With other dogs, I generally get along well, but sometimes I pick someone to tease a little… probably just out of boredom… With a stable primary caregiver who provides mental stimulation, clear rules, and enough engagement, I will surely be a great companion. I had already had a home, but was returned because I let my creativity for digging and climbing run free… In the animal shelter, I initially showed that my legs are quite sprightly – but now I have settled in and adapted well. I am an active charmer with my own head and seek athletic people… I wish for active people with dog experience who enjoy movement and find joy in guiding a smart, character-strong dog like me… A securely fenced yard and both mental and physical engagement would be great to make me happy. In short: – lovable, active Border-Terrier-Mix – loves long walks and movement – generally agreeable, but sometimes a bit cheeky – intelligent, curious, eager to learn – seeks an active home with clear leadership Before I travel to my new home, I will still be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you would like to adopt me, please contact my foster.

Rasse: Border-Terrier-Mischlingsrüde Alter: geb. ca. 09/2020 Halli… Hallo… About Pöpi

What life with Pöpi looks like

Pöpi is a large adult border collie dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pöpi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pöpi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pöpi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pöpi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pöpi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pöpi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pöpi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
