Adopt Poppa (reserviert)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Puppy · 10 months

Poppa's arrival here was quite spectacular. His owner came to the reception area, dropped the leash, and walked away. We followed him. On the parking lot, there was a small altercation that ended with him dropping the leash again and driving away. A few meters further, he threw Poppa's belongings, including his vaccination card, out of the car. We spare ourselves any further comments. Now, Poppa is here and looking for new, better people to be with. The young male dog knows nothing, can do nothing, and has a lot of spunk. He finds the walks with our volunteers fantastic, but of course, they don't overburden him, so he can sometimes be a bit overexcited. Breed-specifically, he wears a muzzle. For Poppa, it would be great if he didn't have to stay with us for too long, as he still has a lot to learn. We are looking for the handsome male dog's fan volunteers who have plenty of time, meet the necessary requirements, and can teach him everything important. He is a great guy who, in the right hands, will surely become the world's best friend. If you are interested in meeting Poppa, please write us a detailed email.

About Poppa (reserviert)

What life with Poppa (reserviert) looks like

Poppa (reserviert) is a medium-sized puppy/kitten staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Köln in Cologne.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poppa (reserviert), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poppa (reserviert)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Köln handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poppa (reserviert) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poppa (reserviert) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Köln will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poppa (reserviert) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poppa (reserviert) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Köln early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poppa (reserviert) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
