Adopt Poppy

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Adult · 10 years

Poppy is a truly special girl who has been an absolute delight since arriving in our care. She was signed over to us through no fault of her own, and it’s been clear from the start what a wonderful girl she is. She adores people and thrives on human company. A real lap cat who loves nothing more than curling up with you for a cuddle. Poppy has the occasional playful moment, and is always happy to receive a gentle fuss. One of her favourite simple pleasures is her cardboard scratch mat, which keeps her happily entertained. Outside access is required as she loves to explore her surroundings. Poppy is affectionate, gentle, and easy to love. She’s the kind of cat who will happily keep you company throughout the day and settle in close for a cosy evening. Her friendly, loving nature makes her a joy to be around. Poppy’s exact age is a little unclear. She was signed over as 12 years old, later suggested to be 15 by a previous owner, while veterinary assessment places her somewhere between 6–10 years. Based on this, we estimate her to be around 10 years old. "*" indicates required fields Here’s where we ask more questions about you, your lifestyle and what you’re looking for in a pet. About Poppy

What life with Poppy looks like

Poppy is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre in Bristol.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poppy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poppy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poppy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poppy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bristol Animal Rescue Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poppy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poppy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poppy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
