PORTO

Mixed Breed · Male

PORTO arrived at the shelter with his sister when they were still tiny babies. His sister was quickly adopted but PORTO wasn't as lucky. We are looking for a home where he can enjoy freedom and play. He loves people and any physical activity. He would be ideal for young people with children of older age or an active couple who can spend daily time with him. PORTO shares his space in the shelter with other dogs, so he could be joined by dog company in his new home. He hasn't mastered walking on a leash yet, although we believe it won't be a problem for Porta. PORTO was born in 2024 and is 55cm tall. Microchip number: 191100002365167.

Porto je u sklonište stigao sa svojom sestrom još dok su malene bebe bili. Sestrica se brzo udomila no Porto nije bio te sreće. Za njega tražimo dom gdje bi mogao uživati u slobodi i igri. Obožava ljude i bilo kakvu fizičku aktivnost.

About PORTO

What life with PORTO looks like

PORTO is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Udruga Spas Varaždin in Varaždin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇷Adopting from Croatia

Croatian shelters include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID in the adoption process. Several work with Italian and German rescue networks for placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting PORTO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PORTO?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Udruga Spas Varaždin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PORTO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PORTO if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Udruga Spas Varaždin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is PORTO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PORTO isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Udruga Spas Varaždin early rather than rehoming privately; they know PORTO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
