adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Poschel has found a home! His story: Poschel is a very special dog: cute, gentle, friendly with fellow animals, and curious about life – though initially a bit reserved. With his gentle eyes and calm demeanor, he immediately touches the heart. Anyone who meets him quickly feels: behind this small guy lies a huge potential. The approximately 3-year-old male dog, standing 52 cm at the shoulder and weighing about 15 kg, is a medium-sized companion – ideal for people who want a sensitive and loving dog. He currently lives in our private shelter in Zalau and shows good compatibility with other dogs there. Poschel seeks the company of people, enjoys gentle cuddles, and now comes to us more often to gently seek affection. His curiosity helps him build trust – even though sudden movements still stress him. This suggests that he may have had bad experiences in the past or had little contact with people. When we rescued him about two to three months ago from the public animal shelter – a place where unfortunately, sadly, dogs are still killed – Poschel was very fearful. But since then, he has made great progress. While a leash and harness are still unfamiliar to him, with patience and a secure environment, he will also master this hurdle. Poschel is not a go-getter but a sensitive and reserved dog who can gradually shed his insecurities in a quiet home without much chaos. We wish for him people with patience, empathy, and understanding for his sensitive soul – people who are willing to give him the time he needs to settle in. A rural, quieter environment would be ideal for Poschel, as he is easily overwhelmed by hecticness, noise, and many stimuli. A home with a regulated daily routine, clear structures, and loving consistency would be the perfect place for his new beginning. A sovereign only dog can provide additional security for him, but is not a must. Poschel travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home. He brings his own EU pet passport and will be accompanied by a positive home visit. A foster home would also be very helpful for Poschel. If you want to give Poschel the love, time, and security he so desperately needs, contact us. Every dog deserves a chance – and Poschel especially. Many thanks to Maria M.! You gave Poschel his name! Date: 05.10. Gets along with other dogs.

Vielen Dank Maria M.! Du hast Poschel seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 05.10.2025

About Poschel

What life with Poschel looks like

Poschel is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poschel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poschel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poschel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poschel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poschel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poschel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poschel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
