Posey

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Young · 1 year

Posey was brought into Bristol ARC as a stray. She is a sweet and gentle little cat looking for a quiet, patient home where she can continue to build her confidence and truly shine. We are unsure of what this lovely girl endured prior to coming to us but she was very anxious when she first arrived. Since settling into her foster home, however, she has blossomed into an affectionate, playful, and loving companion. Once she trusts you, she’ll happily seek out attention, pushing her head into your hands for fusses and even rolling over enthusiastically to show off her tummy—which she loves having rubbed! Despite her gentle nature, Posey has a playful side too. Her favourite toy is a simple knotted piece of string, and she can often be found happily entertaining herself with it. No expensive toys are needed for this girl who obviously prefers the simple things in life. As Posey can be a little timid in new situations, she will need time to settle into her new home at her own pace. She would greatly benefit from cosy igloo beds, covered hideaways, or other safe spaces where she can retreat until she feels confident enough to explore. Thankfully, Posey is highly food motivated, and tasty treats were the key to winning her heart in foster care! She is currently taking medication to help her cope with her anxiety which she will continue to take when she is adopted and weaned off gradually to help the transition into her new family home. Bristol ARC will provide this medication. Posey is searching for a calm, experienced, adult only household where she can feel safe, secure, and loved. With a little patience and understanding, her new family will be rewarded with an affectionate, loyal member of the family who has so much love to give. Outdoor access is required, once she has settled into her new home, she will like to explore the garden. About Posey

What life with Posey looks like

Posey is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre in Bristol.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Posey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Posey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Posey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Posey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bristol Animal Rescue Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Posey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Posey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Posey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
