Possum

Guinea Pig · Male · Young · 1 year

Possum, Born 23rd July 2025 Possum is a sweet but shy Guinea pig. He came in because he was fighting with his brother and the lady was unable to house them separately. He is currently in a foster home while he is waiting for a permanent home. He was very timid when he arrived there but has now settled in and got more vocal especially around feeding time! He doesn't like being held at the moment but may get used to it in the future with lots of time and patience. Update June 26 he is now tolerating being handled by his foster mum. He isn't castrated but if a good home came along where he could join a female guinea pig or two we would be happy to get him castrated because it would be for his benefit. He loves his food - freshly picked grass is his favourite. Our vets have given him a clean bill of health. Once we have approved any applicants for him we would put you in touch with his fosterer to arrange to meet him.

Frequently asked

Adopting Possum, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Possum?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Windyway Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Possum on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Possum if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a animal can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Windyway Animal Rescue what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Possum already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a animal comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Windyway Animal Rescue directly what is included and what Possum still needs.
What happens if Possum isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Windyway Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Possum and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
