Possum

Poodle · Female · Young · 3 years

30-09-26 Possum is a scared little lady who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She needs plenty of love, patience and TLC to help her feel safe and thrive in a home. Possum gets on wonderfully with her kennel friends and relies heavily on their company for comfort, so she will need a kind, confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. As Possum has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training and the other basics of home life. Her new family will need to give her plenty of time and understanding while she learns about all the new sights and sounds around her. Possum will need a quiet home with a cuddly, confident dog to help her feel secure. She could share her home with dog-savvy people aged 16+ who can appreciate and understand that she will need a gentle, quiet introduction to the home, as well as her own space where she can retreat and settle. Possum has arrived severely underweight and her diet is currently being carefully monitored. This will need to be continued in her new home, and she is being fed separately to ensure that she is able to enjoy her meals without anyone else helping themselves! Possum is a little lady who has been through a lot and needs someone willing to give her the time she deserves. We hope that with a loving home, a reassuring canine companion and lots of TLC, she will slowly grow in confidence and begin to enjoy all the comfort and happiness that a new start can bring. She has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Possum

What life with Possum looks like

Possum is a young adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Possum, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Possum?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Possum on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Possum if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Possum already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Possum isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Possum and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
